Our story

Jerónima began with the understanding that making is never only about the object itself. It carries memory, repetition, place, and the knowledge passed from one pair of hands to another.

The project is rooted in a family history of textile work and artistic practice spanning Mexico and California. Sewing, embroidery, crochet, painting, and other forms of handwork were learned through observation, practiced at home, and carried forward through generations of women for whom making was both ordinary and deeply personal.

Jerónima translates that inheritance into a contemporary womenswear practice. The brand treats craft as a living language: one that can be reworked through new silhouettes, materials, techniques, and ways of dressing.

Its visual world is equally shaped by place. The landscapes of Southern California: the cold haze of the coast, black Pacific water, jewel-like tide pools, dry hillsides, and sudden blooms after fire exist alongside memories of Mexico and the textures of a cross-border existence. Together, they form the atmosphere from which the collections emerge.

The result is clothing that feels intimate and singular: garments made to be lived in, remembered, and discovered.

Collaboration

Every Jerónima garment begins in the San Diego studio, where collections are developed through drawing, draping, patternmaking, textile experimentation, and construction.

The work brings together atelier dressmaking with artisanal textile processes developed across a small network of makers in the United States and Mexico. Hand-crocheted elements, embroidery, original printed and painted textiles, and other forms of surface work are integrated into garments alongside carefully considered construction and finishing.

Materials are chosen for their character as much as their quality: fluid silks, fine wools, novelty cottons, specialty linings, handworked yarns, and fabrics that invite exploration. Some pieces are produced in limited runs; others exist only once.

This way of working allows the hand of the maker to remain visible. Jerónima is built around the belief that contemporary fashion can still carry intimacy and that inherited knowledge can continue to evolve without losing the warmth of the process that gave it life.
